Description

EPDM Internal Roof Drain with Leaf Grate – 68mm

This EPDM Internal Roof Drain with leaf grate is the reliable, straightforward solution for flat roofs where drainage runs through the deck rather than over the edge. Designed to bond directly to your EPDM membrane, it creates a fully watertight connection to a standard 68mm downpipe, with a leaf grate included to keep the outlet clear of debris year-round.

What is an EPDM internal roof drain used for?

When a flat roof drains internally, rainwater flows to a low point in the roof and exits through a drain outlet that passes through the deck and into the downpipe below. The drain bonds to the EPDM membrane using uncured flashing tape and rubber primer, creating a weatherproof seal around the drain point that moves with the membrane rather than cracking over time.

This approach is common on flat roofs over garages, house extensions, and commercial outbuildings where a clean exterior finish is preferred over a visible gutter and downpipe.

Suitable for

  • Standard domestic 68mm downpipes
  • New flat roof installations
  • Flat roof repairs and replacements
  • Garage and house extension roofs
  • Commercial and domestic outbuildings
  • Any EPDM rubber roofing system

Installation guide

  1. Cut the drain flange down to leave a 25-35mm lip
  2. Cut the appropriate hole in the roof deck and membrane
  3. Insert the drain into the downpipe and fix through the flange into the deck using 3 wood screws
  4. Prime the drain and surrounding membrane with rubber primer
  5. Bond a piece of uncured flashing (minimum 60mm overlap on all sides) over the drain using a seam roller once primer is touch dry
  6. Cut a clearance hole through the flashing and insert the leaf grate

Installation tip

Always use stainless fixings when securing the drain flange to the deck. This prevents corrosion staining on the membrane and ensures the fixing stays secure over the full life of the roof.
